A 25-year journey

J2S was created in 1999 by Jean-Yves Jourdain and Richard Loubéjac to design and develop simple to use yet powerful software to streamline and automate publishing processes.
With a team of experts, J2S has gone through 3 key evolution stages

Partnering with Adobe and developing the technical foundation

Building on experience, J2S developed its first DAM, which has been used by Citroën and the Boston Consulting Group, among others.

J2S quickly became an Adobe technology partner and began developing solutions based on leading software such as Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as the recently launched InDesign. InDesign was to become the dominant DTP software.

Adobe introduced J2S to France’s largest regional newspaper Ouest France to help them build their own editorial system. In doing so, we created the technical foundation to pilot and automate tasks with the applications of the software suite that is now known as the Creative Cloud.

Developing the first collaborative platforms for communication agencies and studios

In 2003, J2S met with eg+ worldwide, an advertising production agency that is part of the TBWA group. The goal was to enable a non-DTP user to enter translations directly into the InDesign document of Nissan’s car brochures via a browser.

In just a few weeks, J2S simplified the work of translators with a web application that powered InDesign.

This application has been available since 2018 in Simple Workspace, J2S’s flagship solution.

Innovation continues! To speed up production cycles and reduce costs, J2S developed the first collaborative production platform in 2005: retail customers were directly involved in the production of their promotional materials. Agencies benefit from a customer relationship management tool for the production cycle.

J2S, a software publisher

In 2013, J2S decided to rethink the architecture of its solution to move towards an “app store” for the graphic arts industry: a multi-account, multi-application, multi-base solution to continue to meet the specific needs of customers on a common and scalable platform.

The new Simple Workspace platform began to be used in production.

Today, the solution is used by communication agencies and studios, B2B and B2C advertisers, manufacturers, tour operators, media publishers, book publishers, etc.

The flexibility of Simple Workspace allows J2S to manage all types of publishing workflows: books, catalogues, one-to-one catalogues, flyers, posters, on-site communication, etc.
